The Old Way:You go through loads of web sites, you find a villa that you like, the villa offers you everything you require. At such a low price you think all your birthdays have come at once. You pay your deposit then final payment. Then you receive your letter in the post, supplying you with the details of where you have to go to when you have arrived in Florida. So it's 9pm , you arrive in Florida, your tired , kids are tired, you collect your rental car, and now you have to find the management company to collect your keys. So off you head and you get a little bit lost. Tempers are heating up but your supposed to be on the best vacation of your life and the cost was really low. So you eventually find the managment office which is closed. The notice on the window says "Go to the lock box and enter the code that the owner supplied you with" So you find the lock box , open it and your envelope is there - great progress at last. Now it's 10:30pm or later. You open your info pack and all your directions and keys are there but now you have to follow the driving instructions to find the villa. Kids in the background screaming "are we nearly there?" So off you go. Hopefully you don't get lost again. Then at long last you find your villa, it's nice, it's basic and it's miles away from even the nearest shop! Then you realise why the price was so good, you try to complain to the management company and guess what, they only offer a basic service as well, because they offer their services at the lowest rates to their villa owners. The lower the rates the lower standards in all aspects of the vacation rental market. So lesson learned you only get what you pay for. Lower Prices = Lower Standards = Basic facilities = out in the wilds. | |
